Informasi Terkait Keharusan, Larangan, dan Himbauan
(Materi Pertama Bahasa Inggris SMP Kelas 8 (Kurikulum Darurat)


Kompetensi Dasar:

3.1 Menerapkan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan teks interaksi transaksional lisan dan tulis yang melibatkan tindakan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait keharusan, larangan, dan himbauan, sesuai dengan konteks penggunaannya (Perhatikan unsur kebahasaan must, should))

4.1 Menyusun teks interaksi transaksional lisan dan tulis sangat pendek dan sederhana yang melibatkan tindakan memberi dan meminta informasi terkait keharusan, larangan, dan himbauan, dengan memperhatikan fungsi sosial, struktur teks, dan unsur kebahasaan yang benar dan sesuai konteks

Tujuan Pembelajaran:

Setelah mengikuti pembelajaran, siswa diharapkan untuk mampu menerapkan dan menyusun teks informasi terkait keharusan, larangan, dan himbauan.

Ringkasan Materi:

Penggunaan Should, Must, Have to

Perhatikan contoh kalimat berikut ini:

1. We should eat nutritional food and drink enough water to keep your body health.

2. You have to learn seriously if you want to be better.

3. Children must obey their parents. They must follow what parents say.

Pada tiga kalimat diatas, terdapat contoh penggunaan kata "harus" yang menunjukkan keharusan melakukan sesuatu. Apabila kita memperhatikan konteks penggunaannya, terdapat perbedaan tingkatan antara kata "should, have to, dan must".

1. "Should"  digunakan untuk memberikan saran atau nasihat terhadap sesuatu hal atau seseorang. Penggunaan "should" bersifat lebih netral dan bersifat anjuran yang tidak memaksa.

2. "Have to (atau has to)", digunakan untuk memberikan saran yang tingkat keharusannya lebih harus dibandingkan "should". Penggunaannya disebabkan oleh situasi, seperti pada contoh diatas, kamu harus belajar dengan serius "apabila kamu ingin jadi lebih baik"

3. Kata "must" adalah keharusan yang wajib, tingkatan paling harus dilakukan. "Must" digunakan apabila sesuatu itu benar-benar wajib tidak bisa ditawar.

Sebagai contoh lainnya,
1. Students must wake up every morning, they must be discipline, they must learn how to life independently.

2. People must pay their tax. Tax is an obligation for every citizen.

3. You have to learn English as international language. So you can understand everything.

4. You have to drink pure water 8 glass per-day to maintain your body from dehydration.

5. We should read many books either text-book or electronic-book.
